Pompey suffer more financial setbacks

The Premier League have announced they are going to fine Portsmouth for a series of rule breaches this season.

The south coast club are currently in the midst of a season to forget having been handed a nine-point deduction last week for going into administration, all but confirming their relegation to the Championship.

While the financial future of the club looks secure, with administrator Andrew Andronikou confident of finding a buyer for the club, the news about a fine is unlikely to sit well with Pompey fans.

The Premier League are thought to be asking for around £1million which they are set to take from the £6million currently being withheld from the club.

"Portsmouth have been fined for a series of breaches of our rules and regulations during the course of this season," a spokesman said.
