Striker eyes Cats exit

Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy has said he wants to make his loan deal at Ipswich permanent in the summer.

The Irish striker has been excellent for Town since he joined the club on loan until the end of the season, scoring six goals in 11 appearances for Roy Keane's team.

Having fallen down the pecking order at Sunderland following the arrivals of Darren Bent and Frazier Campbell, Murphy now believes his future lies elsewhere and is hopeful Steve Bruce will let him join Ipswich permanently come the end of the season.

"I don't know what price is going to be put on my head, or whatever," Murphy told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"I hope the price is not too restrictive, because I just want to play football. I've got my chance here, and I'm enjoying my time working with Roy Keane again, as I did at Sunderland. Long may that continue.

"At the end of the season I go back to Sunderland, and we'll see what happens from there."
