Worthington includes unfamiliar names

Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington has named an unfamiliar squad for this month's friendlies against Turkey and Chile.


Many senior players such as Manchester United’s Jonny Evans, Fulham duo Aaron Hughes and Chris Baird – who are preparing for Wednesday’s Europa League final – and West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt have been left out.

Several new faces are instead included, among them he new faces are Ross County goalkeeper Michael McGovern, Rochdale's Rory McArdle, Watford's Michael Bryan and John Gorman of Wolves.

Alan Mannus, who plays for Dublin’s Shamrock Rovers is included, while his former club Linfield has five representatives in Jamie Mulgrew, Kevin Braniff, Robert Garrett, Rory Patterson and Colin Coates.

Cardiff City striker Josh Magennis, Port Vale forward James Lawrie and Manchester United midfielder Corry Evans, brother of Jonny are also included, with senior men Gareth McAuley, Warren Feeney and Stephen Craigan among the senior men who will travel to face Turkey in Connecticut on May 26 before facing Chile in Chillan on May 30.

Midfielders: Corry Evans (Manchester United), Kevin Braniff (Portadown), John Gorman (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Robert Garrett (Linfield), Jamie Mulgrew (Linfield), Michael Bryan (Watford) .

Forwards: Josh Magennis (Cardiff City), Warren Feeney (Cardiff City), James Lawrie (Port Vale), Rory Patterson (Coleraine)
