League of Ireland side Bohemians beat Premier League side Aston Villa 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Dalymount Park.

Conor Powell lobbed the ball in after miskicked Brad Friedel clearance to put the hosts ahead in the 20th minute.

Gabriel Agbonlahor and Stewart Downing both went close before the break, before substitute John Carew equalised midway through the second half.

However, the Irish champions, humbled in the Champions by TNS during the week, hit the winner with ten minutes left when Paddy Madden sent substitute Enzo through to score.

New signing Milan Jovanovic made a 45-minute debut for Liverpool in the 1-0 defeat to Kaiserslautern in Germany.

Ilian Micanski's close-range tap-in sunk a mostly reserve Liverpool team.
New signing Jermaine Beckford scored twice as Everton won 3-0 at Preston, with Louis Saha also netting.
