Aston Villa defender Luke Young is now thought to be close to joining Fulham after rejecting the chance to move to Liverpool.
Young was the subject of a £2.75million bid from the Reds but reportedly rejected the chance to move to Anfield as he would have had to have taken a pay cut to leave Villa Park.
The former Charlton and Middlesbrough full-back, who has seven caps for England, has now been identified as a target for new Cottagers boss Mark Hughes, following his unveiling at Craven Cottage.
The 31-year-old, originally from London, would welcome a return to the capital and Villa would be prepared to sell him at the right price.
A fee was agreed with Liverpool only for the player to reject personal terms so if Fulham come in with a similar offer in excess of £2.5million, a deal could well be done before the start of the season.
