Rams in for Blues striker

Derby boss Nigel Clough has confirmed he would like to re-sign Everton striker James Vaughan in time for the new season.

The 22-year-old was on loan at the Rams at the start of last season, but his spell at Pride Park was cut short after he picked up an injury and he returned to Merseyside.

But now Clough has revealed he is keen on taking the striker back to Derby and hopes a deal can be agreed in the next week.

"We are still trying to get a striker in and we are still talking to people about that," he said in the Daily Post.

He added: "There are a few who interest us and James is one of them."

It is thought Blues boss David Moyes would allow Vaughan, who spent the end of last season at Leicester, to leave again, either on loan or for around £2million in a permanent deal.
