Vokes leaves Wolves for Robins

Wolves have parted company with Sam Vokes, who has joined Bristol City on a five-month loan deal.

Vokes has slipped even further down the pecking order following the arrival of Steven Fletcher from Burnley, and manager Mick McCarthy told the Wales international he was free to leave.

Crystal Palace had been strongly linked, but Bristol City have nipped in and Robins boss Steve Coppell is delighted to have landed his man.

"Sam's been a player who's been a thorn in the side of my old team Reading over the years," Coppell revealed. "He's always looked a handful that's a good criteria."

The 20-year-old will now spend the next five months on loan at Ashton Gate but there is every chance the deal could become permanent if he impresses.
