Celtic got their SPL season off to a winning start with a 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday afternoon.
Paddy McCourt was the hero for the Bhoys, scoring a brilliant solo effort before having to be substituted with a head injury.
The first shot in anger came from the home team. Adam Rooney caught Kevin McCann's cross cleanly on the volley but saw his effort fizz a yard wide of the Celtic post.
Celtic themselves endured a slow start but almost took the lead when Shaun Maloney was played clean through on goal. However, the forward saw his effort from inside the box crash off the Caley post.
Joe Ledley was the next to try his luck but he saw his effort deflect over off the heel of Ross Tokely.
The former Cardiff man had another chance early in the second half but shot straight at Ryan Esson.
However, moments later came the highlight of the match. McCourt danced past three Highland tackles before unleashing a clean, unstoppable drive past Esson.
Maloney was a little too enthusiastic in his celebrations and ended up causing a head injury to McCourt, who was forced off.
James Forrest - on for McCourt - had a great chance to make it 2-0 as the match wound down, but he blasted his shot over from eight yards when it looked easier to score.
