Hogan out of hurling decider

by Michelle Fortune , 28 August 2010

Kilkenny manager Brian Cody has confirmed that Brian Hogan will miss the All-Ireland SHC Final against Tipperary through injury.

Hogan suffered a shoulder injury in the semi-final win over Cork but looked to be on course for a return to action in the September 5 decider. However, he injured a finger in training on Wednesday and will not be available for the Tipperary clash.

"Brian has been fighting injury for the past few weeks really. First he was a doubt going into the Cork game with a finger injury, he got over that, and then shipped a heavy knock to his shoulder and was gone after 15 minutes," Cody explained to Six One News.

"He fought that injury very, very hard, did everything right and then got a finger injury.

"That's hard going on any player, and it's really tough altogether for any player to miss and All-Ireland final."
