Michalik heads to Carlisle

Leeds United defender Lubor Michalik has joined League One outfit Carlisle on loan until the New Year.

The Slovakian international was told by the newly-promoted side to actively look for a new club at the end of last season and has joined the League One side on loan until January 3rd.

The 26-year-old made 69 appearances since joining three years ago, but the defender struggled to hold down a regular starting place last season.

Michalik joined the Whites from Bolton in 2007 on loan but impressed and moved permanently for £500,000 in January 2008.

He started his career in Slovakia at Senec and has also scored one goal in four international appearances.

The centre-back will be available for Carlisle's match against Swindon Town on Saturday, at Brunton Park.
