John McIntyre's wish to continue as manager of the Galway senior hurling team looks set to be granted after club delegates responded warmly to his annual report.

McIntyre has been at the helm of the Tribesmen for the last two seasons and was visibly upset following his team's defeat by Tipperary in the All-Ireland quarter-final last month. Despite the loss, McIntyre spoke of his hope for the future of hurling in Galway and expressed his desire to continue in the role for a further two years.

He presented a report on the state of hurling in the county to club delegates on Tuesday night and after it received a positive reaction it is expected that he will be ratified for another term at a meeting of the county board next week.

"There was a very positive reaction to his report and I am confident John McIntyre and his management team will be re-appointed in two weeks," Galway hurling board chairman Joe Byrne said.
