Rangers defeat brave Kilmarnock

A hat-trick from Kenny Miller gave Rangers a 3-2 win over a determined Kilmarnock side at Rugby Park.

Conor Sammon was on target for Killie in the 21st minute. Alexei Eremenko found an unmarked Liam Kelly at the far post. His shot was parried across goal by Allen McGregor but the ball fell to Sammon, who grabbed his 12th goal of the season.

Eremenko nearly doubled the home side's lead but his dipping effort was knocked over by McGregor.

Rangers had an equaliser five minutes before half-time, when Mohamadou Sissoko felled Kenny Miller in the box. The Scottish international dusted himself down before firing his penalty past Cammy Bell.

Sissoko was sent off for a professional foul on Kyle Lafferty in the box and Rangers had another penalty, dispatched again by Miller, before Sammon grabbed an equaliser by sliding in to convert a Jamie Hamill cross.

Rangers had their winner on 63 minutes. Steven Whittaker skipped away from Eremenko to find the unattended Miller lurking on the edge of the six yard box.
