Cottagers breeze past Posh

Diomansy Kamara netted a hat-trick as Fulham made light work of League One side Peterborough United in the third round of the FA Cup, with the hosts winning 6-2 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Dickson Etuhu, Zoltan Gera and Jonathan Greening were also on target for the Premier League side, while Posh replied through a Lee Tomlin strike and a Grant McCann penalty.

The visitors had the first decent chance of the game, with Arron Davies forcing a save from David Stockdale, before the goalkeeper tipped over a Craig Mackail-Smith drive.

Fulham, though, went ahead just after the half-hour mark when Kamara headed in from close range following Chris Baird's cross.

Fulham added their second before the break, as Etuhu scored with a strike from the edge of the box thanks largely to a deflection.

Although Peterborough continued to cause the hosts some defensive worries, the home side went three-up just before the hour, when Kamara raced onto a Danny Murphy pass and slid a finish home.

A Damien Duff cross was met by Gera’s head to make it 4-0, before Tomlin gave the travelling support something to cheer with an excellent effort, cutting in from the right and scoring with a low drive.

Kamara, though, soon netted his third and Fulham’s fifth, striking from Greening’s pull-back, though Peterborough scored again when McCann netted from the spot after Rafik Halliche had tripped Mackail-Smith.

With the visitors having given their all, Greening tapped home late on to complete a comprehensive win for the West Londoners.
