Blades snap up Chelsea prospect

Chelsea have allowed reserve team midfielder Daniel Philliskirk to join Championship strugglers Sheffield United on a month's loan.

The 19-year-old will spend the next four weeks with the Blades under the watchful eye of coach Mark Smith as part of their development squad.

Philliskirk has previously been on loan this season with League Two club Oxford United and it's thought the Blues may be prepared to offload the player permanently if United like what they see.

The former England Under-17 international has only featured three times for Chelsea's reserves this term despite his ability to play either a striker or in midfield.

His father Tony himself used to play for the Blades, making over 80 appearances and scoring 20 times during a five year stint at Bramall Lane in which he played mainly alongside Keith Edwards.
