Ronaldo, Benzema out of Spurs match

by Tony Cuddihy , 01 April 2011

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will miss the Champions League clash with Tottenham on Tuesday.

The Portuguese tactician said that the duo, as well as full-back Marcelo, will only be available for the La Liga clash against Athletic Bilbao on April 9th.

He said: “Cristiano, Marcelo and Benzema can only play in Bilbao.”

Ronaldo has been nursing a hamstring problem, while Benzema picked up a slight thigh strain while on France duty.

Marcelo received a blow to the ribs while training with Brazil.

There was better news for Mourinho, however, with striker Gonzalo Higuain pushing for a first team recall after back surgery.

Mourinho said: “His recovery is a positive surprise because we thought he may miss up to the final 15 games of the season and having him is important."
