Pirlo leaves AC Milan

by Tony Cuddihy , 18 May 2011

Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo has revealed that he is leaving AC Milan after spending ten years with the club.

The 31-year-old broke the news on the same day that veteran duo Alessandro Nesta and Filippo Inzaghi confirmed they had signed new one-year deals.

Pirlo has been a brilliant servant to Milan over the years, helping them to win two Champions League titles and, recently, his second Italian championship.

“It was a mutual decision, I’ve had 10 unforgettable years here,” Pirlo, whose contract expires this summer, told reporters.

Nesta and Inzaghi, however, increase their deals at the ages of 35 and 37 respectively.

Nesta has been with the club since joining from Lazio in 2002, while Inzaghi arrived from Juventus one year prior to that.
