Longford boss Glenn Ryan has handed Kevin Diffley, Michael Brady and Donal McElligott their championship debuts - all three will line out against Laois on Sunday.
Ryan took tremendous encouragement from his side's recent Allianz Football League Division 4 success over Roscommon and is hopeful that they can maintain their winning form in O'Moore Park.
"It is good preparation, there's no doubt about that," the former Kildare defender told the Longford Leader.
"Hopefully, it will stand to us on the day."
Diffley will operate at centre-back while Brady is set to partner Bernard McElvanney at midfield, with St. Columba's clubman McElligott starting at top of the right.
Ryan added: "They (Laois) have a new manager (Justin McNulty) there and everyone has put in a huge effort to try and impress him. They have a number of lads who are seasoned campaigners and are still relatively young. They have a very strong midfield, the defence are a good unit and potentially they have a very potent forward division."
He went on: "It will be a tough task for us. But, if we play to our ability and strengths I'd like to think we can give Laois a good game."
