Boateng looks to secure move

by Tony Cuddihy , 14 June 2011

Jerome Boateng has agreed a four-year contract with Bayern Munich and hopes that Manchester City will allow him to leave this summer.

Having only joined the Premier League side from Hamburg last summer, Boateng failed to hold down a regular starting berth and was often played out of position at full-back.

Boateng is keen to return to his natural position in the centre of defence in order to copperfasten his place in the German national team for next summer's European Championships.

The move, however, depends on City agreeing a deal with the Bundesliga side.

"It is true that I have agreed with Bayern on a four-year deal. Now it is up to Manchester to make it work. At the moment they are making things a bit difficult," Boateng told Kicker Magazine.

"It is about the position. Bayern want me as a central defender. That is also an advantage for the national team.

"My dream is to have a starting spot within a year, hopefully at Bayern, and then I want to win the European Championship."
