Reina not leaving Liverpool

by Shane Keegan , 27 June 2011

Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina has distanced himself from rumours linking him with Spanish club Atletico Madrid.

With David De Gea set to leave Atletico in favour of a move to Manchester United, the Spanish club will need to find a replacement shot stopper, with Reina being rumoured to be a potential target.

However, Reina has been quick to quash any rumours linking him with a move to the Spanish outfit, insisting he is happy at Anfield and committed to the team.

“I know Atletico are looking for a goalkeeper, but I won't be changing colours,” Reina told La Gaceta.

"I have a five-year contract and I'm happy at Liverpool."

Reina will face De Gea at least twice next season in the league, and believe that the Spanish U21 number one will be a huge success at Old Trafford over the coming years.

"I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper,” added Reina.

"When it becomes official he is going to start working to prove in the Premier League what a good goalkeeper he is."
