Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi insists he will never leave Camp Nou for another European side.

The Argentina international is currently in his homeland preparing for the Copa America, which his country will host, and Messi is keen to lead his nation to glory in the competition.

Messi has revealed he has no intention of moving away from Barcelona in the future and would only leave the Catalan giants for a stint in the Argentine league, having spent his whole professional career to date in Spain.

"If I leave Barcelona, it will be to return to Argentina and there I will probably retire," Messi told El Pais.

The 23-year-old also ruled out the possibility of moving to Real Madrid, or indeed any other European side.

When asked if he would consider a move to the Bernabeu, Messi said: "No, I don't think so, I wouldn't even go anywhere else (in Europe). I am happy right now in Barcelona. I am feeling great and I want to finish here until I come to Argentina."
