Real Madrid have announced that they have completed the signing of Lens defender Raphael Varane.
The 18-year-old put pen to paper on a six year deal on Tuesday after passing a medical at the Spanish capital.
The highly rated teenager made 23 appearances for Lens last season and managed to score two goals, but was unable to prevent them from being relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season.
“Real Madrid and Lens have reached an agreement for the transfer of the French player Raphael Varane, who will be tied to the club for the next six seasons,” said a statement on Madrid’s website.
The Frenchman has become Madrid’s fourth new signing of the summer so far, with Turkish duo Nuri Sahin and Hamit Altintop already having signed along with Espanyol winger Jose Maria Callejon.
