Bristol City goalkeeper David James has taken up the option of spending a second season at Ashton Gate.
The former England goalkeeper, 40, had the option of a second year at the club after completing a certain number of games in his first campaign.
Manager Keith Millen told the club's official website: "David proved his fitness last year being available for every game and he clearly sees us going in the right direction, pushing for promotion in the forthcoming season.
"That's why he's decided to sign the contract extension."
James, whose former clubs include Watford, Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, Manchester City and Portsmouth, played in all but two of the Robins' matches last season, making a total of 46 appearances.
The former England goalkeeper is confident Bristol City can mount a promotion challenge next season.
"Despite all the adversities last season, I think on a number of occasions we showed our capabilities," he told the club's website.
"Yes, there were some inconsistencies that let us down. Too often we allowed teams to beat us, but when we got it right we could wins games against whoever we faced.
"I'm confident we can do good things this season, as I've been assuring City fans whenever I bump into them around the world."
He added: "The goal when I first joined was promotion and we had a tough battle, but we should be better for that experience."
