Andrews to go it alone

by JP Lonergan , 11 July 2011

Val Andrews will be the sole occupant of the Cavan senior football manager’s seat next season, it has been confirmed.

This year saw Andrews and Terry Hyland take charge of the county in a dual capacity, but the latter will now occupy a selector’s role for the 2012 season.

The Breffni County failed to challenge for promotion in Division Three of the Allianz Football League earlier in 2011, before being well beaten by both Donegal and neighbours Longford in the championship.

Dubliner Andrews will be the man tasked with bringing about improvement, while Hyland – who led the Breffni U21s to an Ulster title and an All-Ireland runners-up finish – takes a step back.
