Owls too strong for Millers

Sheffield Wednesday maintained their unbeaten pre-season run by beating South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham 2-1 at Don Valley Stadium.

Coming into the game on the back of a draw against Norwegian side FC Volga Novgorod and a win against non-league Worksop Town, Gary Megson's side put in a solid display and made light work of their League Two neighbours. They opened the scoring soon after the break when Lewis Buxton tucked home from close range after his header had rebounded from a post, and Gary Madine gave the Owls some breathing space when he headed home Chris Sedgwick's corner.Wednesday, who conceded late on to a Adam Le Fondre header, continue their preparations for the new campaign when they host Leeds on Saturday.
