Mayo next up for champions Cork

by Oli Skehan , 24 July 2011

The draw for the quarter-finals of the All-Ireland SFC has been made and has, as usual, thrown up some intriguing clashes.

Maurice Horan's Limerick, who brought Wexford's interest in the championship to an end in dramatic circumstances in Portlaoise on Saturday evening, will feel most aggrieved as their reward is a showdown with provincial rivals, Kerry.

Meanwhile, two of the more analytical sides left in the championship, Ulster champions Donegal and qualifier kings Kildare, will face-off in the last-eight.

Elsewhere, Leinster champions Dublin will have to wait and see who their quarter-final opponents will be but it will be either Tyrone or Roscommon - their Round Four qualifier match is scheduled for next Saturday.

Last but not least, All-Ireland champions Cork, so impressive against last year's finalists Down at Croke Park on Saturday evening, will play Mayo for a place in the semi-final.

Times and dates will be confirmed by the CCCC early this week, with matches scheduled for weekend of July 30/31.
