Swann cleared to play

England spinner Greame Swann has been given the all-clear to play in the third Test against India at Edgbaston next week.

There were some concerns the 32-year-old may not have been able to play in Birmingham next week after he sustained a blow to his left hand whilst batting in the second Test.

Swann took a direct hit to his glove at Trent Bridge, prompting fears that he could have suffered a bone fracture from the incident.

However, scans have revealed that there was no serious damage to the hand and Swann is now focused on trying to help England establish a 3-0 lead in the series against India to take his side to number one in the world.

He said: "I've had another X-ray on the hand just to check and it's not serious.

"There's a little bother in there but nothing to affect my preparations.

"It might affect my batting in the nets beforehand but that will just stop me facing a few bouncers from our boys."
