Alex McLeish has challenged youngster Fabian Delph to take his chance for Aston Villa and make a real impact this season.
Delph was tipped for big things when former Villa boss Martin O'Neill signed him from Leeds two years ago, but he has so far failed to make an impression in the top flight.
The 20-year-old has struggled with injuries and poor form during his time at Villa Park and has only made eight league starts in the past two seasons.
However, McLeish believes the youngster can begin to make an impression and has urged him to become a big player for Villa this term.
"We have lost a few players this season and we are now looking at the likes of Fabian to make a real breakthrough," he said.
"Fabian was left out of the trip to Braga due to caution but I think he will be ready for selection.
"If he can steer clear of injury then he can make a significant contribution this year also."
