Andy Johnson looks set to end speculation about his future by penning a new one-year deal with Fulham.

The 30-year-old former England international is in the final 12 months of his contract at Craven Cottage, but has opened talks about extending that deal.

The former Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Everton striker has endured an injury-ravaged time at Fulham since moving to the club for £10.5million three years ago.

He has scored only ten Premier League goals in 52 starts and 14 substitute appearances for the Cottagers but has looked sharp in the Europa League games so far this term, finding the net three times in six matches.

Boss Martin Jol hopes to have negotiations finalised within the next month, saying: "He's already back to the level he was at before at Crystal Palace.

"He scored goals and was on the end of things. For me he's a very good player."
