Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has revealed that goalkeeper Shay Given injured his groin during Saturday's 0-0 draw at Fulham.
The over-worked 'keeper suffered the problem towards the end of the match when pulling off one of a number of vital stops.
"Shay had a bit of a tight groin," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail. "That's why James Collins took the goal-kicks.
"But we're hoping he's okay. I need to speak to the doc.
"Twenty four hours is normally the time to tell."
Saturday's match was the first top-flight fixture the Republic of Ireland international had played in 16 months after been frozen out at Manchester City behind Joe Hart, but McLeish rejected claims Given was the sole reason his team took a point away from Craven Cottage.
"It's not fair to say that," he added. "It's a team game and the team got us that point.
"His experience tells him to go into the right positions.
"You might have seen other goalkeepers diving for one or two of them that came point-blank at him. But that's the experience of a great goalkeeper."
Villa are back in action on Saturday when Blackburn visit Villa Park.
