McCarthy expects Keogh to prosper

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has backed striker Andy Keogh to make a positive impact back at Leeds.

Keogh, 25, who began his career at Elland Road as a trainee, has joined on loan until January and went straight into Leeds' squad for Tuesday night's home clash with Hull.

McCarthy believes a familiar environment will bring out the best in the Republic of Ireland international, who left Elland Road for Scunthorpe for £50,000 in February 2005 after playing just one Carling Cup game for the club.

McCarthy told the Express & Star: "Andy has done terrifically well for me and he's had a good pre-season and I think he'll do well for them.

"He's a good Championship player. I'm delighted for him because he's gone to a great club. He started his career there, so it's gone full circle for him.

"But I hope he gets to play because he deserves to play somewhere."
