Hoops linked with Liverpool star

Queens Park Rangers have been linked with a move for out-of-favour Liverpool defender Philipp Degen.

Hoops boss Neil Warnock's desire to strengthen his backline has been made more urgent following their opening-day 4-0 hammering by Bolton and a three-match ban for Clint Hill, who was sent off late on in the game at Loftus Road.

After spending in the region of £50million on new signings this summer Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to trim his squad and lower the wage bill, with Degen among a number of players allowed to leave.

It has been reported that the Scot is prepared to let the Swiss defender go for a cut-price £1million.
