Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed the club are in talks with Manchester City over a possible deal for striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
Adebayor spent the second half of last season on loan with Real Madrid after slipping down the pecking order at Manchester City and his future at the Etihad Stadium has been the subject of much speculation since his return in the summer.
Indeed, manager Roberto Mancini has warned the striker that he will play no part for Manchester City this season, even if he fails to secure a move away before the transfer window closes.
Blackburn Rovers and Zenit St Petersburg were both credited with having an interest in the striker, but the player himself confirmed he was only willing to join a club capable of challenging for the title.
Tottenham emerged as a possible destination for the former Togo international when Redknapp expressed an interest in bringing him to White Hart Lane and the manager has now confirmed that the two clubs are in talks over a possible deal.
"The chairman is talking to Man City about the player but where they (the negotiations) are at, I genuinely don't know," Redknapp revealed.
