Jagielka staying put

by Setanta Staff , 20 August 2011

Phil Jagielka has insisted that he is not interested in leaving Everton, according to Everton boss David Moyes.

Since joining in 2007, Jagielka has made himself one of Everton's prize assets, earning a place in the England side with his impressive displays in defence.

The former Sheffield United man has attracted the interest of top clubs, with Arsenal reported to have had a bid turned down already.

It is believed that following the recent acquisition of cash from Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas, the Gunners will return with an improved offer for the 29-year-old, but Moyes firmly believes that he will not push for a move and that he is happy on Merseyside.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the former Preston boss said: "I have had two or three conversations with Jags and he is up-to-date with everything and anything that has happened.

"He has said to me that, unless it is something Everton want to do, he is not going to be the one who instigates or pushes anything. It will only be if Everton want to do it and I certainly don't want to do it."
