Everton skipper Phil Neville has signed a new contract extension, which will keep him at the club until 2013.

Neville's old deal was set to expire the end of the current season but he has agreed to stay on at Goodison for an extra year.

The 34-year-old has made 228 appearances for the club since moving from Manchester United in 2005, becoming a key man in David Moyes side.

The former England international thanked the club for showing faith in him but says he still harbours desires play after his new deal expires.

"I feel really proud and this club has never let me down" Neville told the club website.

"It's shown faith in me again and for the next two years I'm going to give my all for this football club."
