Jol eyes quick forward swoop

Martin Jol has confirmed that he needs imminent striker reinforcements after Bobby Zamora was ruled out of Fulham's defeat at Wolves.

The Cottagers boss was left short in attack for the 2-0 reverse at Molineux on Sunday when an ankle injury ruled star striker, Zamora, out of the action, while Moussa Dembele is also struggling for fitness.

Clint Dempsey was moved up front alongside Andrew Johnson for the Wolves game, but Jol recognises the need for a new hitman given that Zamora is also set to miss their Europa League play-off second leg against Dnipro in the Ukraine on Thursday.

The Dutch tactician said: "He was OK during the week but this morning we decided not to play him as his ankle was bothering him a lot. He is doubtful for Thursday as well.

"I've told you all along we need a backup player for him and we are looking for one."
