Roberto Mancini is hoping Manchester City can sign Samir Nasri but says it will be a 'big problem' if he plays in Europe for Arsenal.

The City boss spoke out following his side's 3-2 win at Bolton on Sunday which took them to the top of the embryonic Premier League table with two victories from two games played.

And, afterwards the Italian was quizzed about his chances of signing the Gunners' France international midfielder following earlier weekend reports emanating from France that the deal had fallen through.

Mancini insisted the transfer was still on and he was hopeful that they could seal a deal at the start of the week, although he did admit that there could be an issue if Nasri plays in Arsenal's Champions League qualifier second leg against Udinese on Wednesday as it would mean he is ineligible to play in the group phase of the competition for City.

"For 40 days I've hoped in two days, three days (it would be done), I don't know why we haven't closed it," said Mancini.

"It's a big problem (if he plays for Arsenal against Udinese) but I'm sure we can close in 24 hours, maybe 48. For Nasri it will be important he can play in all the Champions League matches."

Mancini also ruled out the possibility of Carlos Tevez leaving the Etihad Stadium this month after his made a substitute appearance at the Reebok Stadium.

He added: "Carlos is here, I don't think the situation will change. Carlos is an important player, a top player for us and at the moment we haven't received any offers for him."
