Ipswich manager Paul Jewell is stepping up his efforts to sign free-agent Jimmy Bullard.
The midfielder, who has had his contract at Hull terminated, enjoyed a successful three-month spell on loan at Portman Road last season.
However, Jewell faces stiff competition from Premier League clubs for the 32-year-old's signature.
"I spoke to Jimmy twice (on Monday) and once on Sunday with the owner about him," Jewell told Town's official website.
"He had a meeting with QPR and there are a couple of other Premier League teams in for him, but we are trying to be competitive and we are trying to bring him here.
"Jimmy is going to be very expensive but he does also want to play football so we are trying to do something with him."
