Chelsea defender Hamburg bound

by Setanta Staff , 23 August 2011

Chelsea defender Slobodan Rajkovic is on the verge of joining Hamburg after passing a medical with the German club.

He is the latest fringe player at Stamford Bridge to make the switch to Hamburg to link up with former Blues sporting director Frank Arnesen in recent months.

The Serbian, who joined Chelsea in 2005 from OFK Beograd as a 16-year-old, will link up with the likes of Michael Mancienne, Gokhan Tore, Jeffrey Bruma and Jacopo Sala at the Bundesliga club.

He is leaving the Premier League outfit after failing to secure a new work permit despite having represented his country on seven occasions during his time in England.
