Shamrock Rovers became the first Irish side to reach the group stage of the Europa League, thanks to a 2-1 victory away to Partizan Belgrade.
With the tie poised at 1-1 following the first leg in Dublin, Vladimir Volkov's header in Belgrade pushed Partizan ahead.
However, Pat O'Sulivan netted a superb volley to level matters once again, before Stephen O'Donnell scored from the penalty spot in extra time, after Karl Sheppard had been felled by Partizan keeper Radisa Ilic, to send Rovers through.
A youthful Tottenham recorded a scoreless draw Hearts at White Hart Lane in their playoff clash, with the English side having won the first leg 5-0.
The hosts' Harry Kane had a first half penalty saved by Jamie MacDonald.
Stoke, meanwhile, easily progressed by beating FC Thun 4-1 to seal a 5-1 aggregate win.

A goal by Dalibor Valas gave NK Maribor a 3-1 aggregate lead at Ibrox, and although Carlos Bocanegra levelled on the night for the Gers, the Scottish side were eliminated.
Celtic had Daniel Majstorovic sent off early on away to FC Sion, with Pascal Feinduono scoring a penalty, and Feinduono netted a second to put the home side in control.
A deflected Charlie Mulgrew free-kick gave Celtic hope, but Giovanni Sio then sealed a 3-1 win on the night and on aggregate for the Swiss side, following a goalless first leg.
