Fitzpatrick keen to carry on

by Oli Skehan , 11 September 2011

Peter Fitzpatrick expects to find out shortly if he will take charge of the Louth footballers for another year in 2012.

The Fine Gael TD, who succeeded Eamonn McEneaney in November 2009, wants to continue double-jobbing, but county chiefs are considering things after a rocky season in charge of the Wee men.

"Peter Fitzpatrick wants to be manager of the Louth team but it's not in my hands," the Clan na Gael clubman said.

Louth were out of luck in last year's Leinster final when Joe Sheridan's controversial late goal denied them their first provincial success in 53 years.

However, Fitzpatrick's charges never reached such heights in 2011, Meath again proved to be their nemesis - the Royal County handed out a 5-8 to 2-8 beating to the Wee County in the Round One of the qualifiers at Breffni Park.
