Jimmy Barry-Murphy has brought Sean Og O hAilpin back into his "senior hurling training panel for the coming season" according to a county board statement but the former All-Ireland-winning manager has lost the services of another Rebel stalwart, Jerry O'Connor.
O hAilpin, the proud possessor of three Celtic Crosses and three All Stars, was sensationally overlooked by Barry-Murphy's predecessor Denis Walsh but the new Cork boss clearly feels the Na Piarsaigh defender still has something to offer.
Newtownshandrum's O'Connor joined the Cork panel over a decade ago and in that time he won two All-Ireland medals and three All Stars, like his former teammate.
"The Cork senior hurling training panel for the coming season has been announced and will be reviewed on an on-going basis," a county board statement read.
"To those outgoing players who aren't included in the panel at the moment, the management would like to pay tribute to the fantastic service they have given to the Cork jersey over the last few years.
"Jerry O'Connor is retiring from intercounty hurling and Kieran Murphy is not available due to work commitments at present outside of the Cork area."
