West Brom's Chile international Gonzalo Jara has joined Brighton on loan until January 2.
The 26-year-old, who can play in defence or as a defensive midfielder, has 49 international caps and made 24 starts for West Brom in the Premier League last season.
Seagulls boss Gus Poyet told the club's official website: "Gonzalo has a great pedigree having played for Chile's top team, before helping West Brom to promotion to the Premier League.
"He also has Premier League experience having been a first choice last season, and he will bring quality and add experience of this level and higher, and help us recapture our early season form.
"He also brings versatility - he can play anywhere across the back four or as a defensive midfielder."
