James Woodlock has expressed his disappointment at the lack of chances afforded to him by Tipperary boss Declan Ryan in this year's championship.
Woodlock, who suffered a horrific double leg break two years ago against Thurles Sarsfields in the county final, failed to feature in Tipperary's last three fixtures - the Munster final, All-Ireland semi-final and All-Ireland final.
The Kilkenny-based Garda scored a point after being introduced against Cork in the provincial opener but only saw eight minutes of action in the Munster semi-final against Ger O'Loughlin's Clare.
"To be honest, this is the way I see it; when I came back from injury, I played in the Waterford Crystal and thought I got on fine," the Drom & Inch clubman said.
"I played in the half-back line but I needed a rattle at midfield.
"Against Wexford (in the Allianz League) I scored a couple of points from play but I didn't seem to get a look-in after that. There was half an hour against Cork, a bit against Clare but I was out of the picture. I thought I was hurling well myself, I'd done so well to come back from injury and not to play was disappointing."
Woodlock went on: "The challenge is definitely there and I like challenges. All I can do is knuckle down and prove myself with the club."
