Cusack to captain Cork

by JP Lonergan , 30 October 2011

Donal Og Cusack will captain the Cork hurlers in 2012.

Cusack, a long-term servant to the Rebels small-ballers, succeeds defender Shane O’Neill in the role of county captain, with new Cork boss Jimmy Barry Murphy deciding that he is the perfect man for the job.

Glen Rovers' Patrick Horgan has been appointed vice-captain, with Barry Murphy saying of the decision to give the nod to his occasionally outspoken stopper: "Shane O'Neill has stepped down as he suffered a number of injuries over the past twelve months and now wishes to concentrate on his own game.

“As a result, the management made the decision to appoint Donal Og as captain, with Patrick Horgan vice-captain.”
