Cavan coach on the mend

by JP Lonergan , 10 December 2011

Cavan county board chairman Tom Reilly says that team coach John Morrison will return to his duties by the end of January, despite his suffering of a stroke.

Morrison suffered the stroke last week, with the days to follow seeing speculation mount as to whether or not he will be able to return to his role with the Breffni County.

However, the convalescing Morrison has already put plans in place for his return to work with Val Andrews’ panel, and hopes to be back towards the latter stages of Ulster’s McKenna Cup campaign.

"He is making a great recovery," Reilly told the Irish Examiner. "He didn't have a full blast of a stroke, but he did have one.

“Thankfully his speech, movement and temperament are all the same. I just spoke with him the other night and he is looking forward to coming back.

"He'll return to us again. I expect we'll see him back with us by late January, the McKenna Cup will be on by then."

Morrison has previously held coaching roles with Mayo, Derry, Donegal and Leitrim.
