Graham Alexander has expressed his pride at being placed in temporary charge of Preston.
The Deepdale outfit parted company with manager Phil Brown on Wednesday, leaving Alexander and coach David Unsworth in charge of North End for Saturday's npower League One trip to MK Dons.
"It's a fantastic privilege, both for me and for Dave, to be in charge for this weekend and it does mean a lot to us both," said the 40-year-old, who is currently in his second spell with the Lillywhites having made more than 400 starts for the club in all competitions.
"We're looking forward to it as we're quite excited about this weekend and that's all we're concentrating on.
"
At the end of the day it's not really about me and Unsy, it's about the players come Saturday.
So we're just going to keep as a low profile as possible and let people concentrate on the players and the team."
On Brown's departure, Alexander added: "It's never a good thing to experience to be honest.
We all have relationships with different managers, but it's never nice to see a man lose his job.
He's a good man Phil, as is Brian (Horton, assistant manager) and all the rest, so we wish them all the best because they are good people."
