Kevin Cassidy would appear to have suggested that Michael Murphy’s backing of the decision to axe him from the Donegal panel was influenced from higher up.
Tir Chonaill boss Jim McGuinness cut the Gweedore man from his panel last month after comments he made in the recent book 'This Is Our Year',which gave details of the county’s preparation work for games.
This week Donegal forward Murphy was asked of his opinion on McGuinness’ call to cull the All Star defender from his squad, with the young attacker saying: "Jim had to make the decision and the county had to make the decision and that was the decision made.
"Kevin stepped out of line and that was agreed on by everyone so that was unfortunate but we’re looking forward to a new season and we’re looking forward to rowing in behind everybody again and getting on with it."
Murphy said he had not spoken to Cassidy about his axing but the defender has hit back on Twitter, having issued a tweet in which he seemed to question if the opinion expressed by Murphy was his own.
Thursday’s tweet read: "In life the opinions you express should be you’re (sic) own and you shouldn’t be influenced by others."
