Fitzpatrick desires another final

by Dave Maher , 27 December 2011

Louth's Stephen Fitzpatrick is desperate for his county to get to another Leinster Senior Football Championship final.

Fitzpatrick was part of the team that reached the 2010 provincial decider - Louth's first in half a century - when a controversial goal by Meath's Joe Sherdian saw the Wee County denied victory.

Fitzpatrick believes that the squad have put that disappointment behind them and are eager to once again reach the heights they achieved a year and a half ago.

"Getting to Croke Park and coming on in a Leinster final has certainly been the highlight of my career so far," he said.

"It was an amazing occasion, but it was just a pity the way it finished. Look, it's been well documented, and a mistake was made.

"However, it is time to move on and the whole squad would think the same.

"We would love to get back to a Leinster final. It was a great experience and it would certainly give you a taste for more."
