McNamee not in O’Byrne squad

by Dave Maher , 27 December 2011

Niall McNamee has not been selected in Offaly's squad for the Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup in January.

However, McNamee is due to return to the Offaly fold during his county's Allianz Football League Division 3 campaign, according to the Irish Examiner.

The talented forward quit the inter-county scene in October over the county board's handling of the process to find a replacement for manager Tom Cribbin, who was succeeded by Gerry Cooney.

The inter-county careers of veterans Karl Slattery and Scott Brady, meanwhile, may be over after they were left out of the 23-man panel for next month's pre-season tournament.

The Faithful County begin their O’Byrne Cup schedule with a clash against Westmeath in Tullamore on January 8.
