Lar Corbett has admitted that they hype that surrounded this year’s All-Ireland final probably got to the Tipperary camp.
Corbett, whose hat-trick against Kilkenny in the 2010 final played a huge part in Tipp winning Liam McCarthy on that year, was a shadow of himself as his side went down to the awesome Cats in this year’s final.
They were strongly fancied to beat Brian Cody’s men for the second year in a row, but were second best all day long in the first Sunday in September, with the Thurles man conceding that all the attention on the county pre-match may have gotten to Declan Ryan’s players.
Speaking on RTE’s ‘Kilkenny v Tipperary - The Trilogy’ documentary, which will be aired on Wednesday, Corbett said: "Definitely the Tipperary supporter they’d give you a little bit better chance than what you think you should be entitled to.
"Maybe, did we listen to it a small, little bit? Maybe. We were trying to keep our feet on the ground and I wouldn’t believe our feet weren’t on the ground but maybe we were a little bit confident."
